Mr. Gerald Miller

June 25, 1931 - September 14, 2014

Gerald "Jerry" E. Miller Jerry Miller, a long time resident of Willow Springs, quietly passed away Sunday evening, September 14th, 2014, while at Willow Care Nursing Home, from natural causes. Born June 25th, 1931 to Harvey and Edith (Andy) Miller in Bloomsburg, PA, he was 83 years old. Jerry grew up in Pomona where he worked on the family farm. Seeking employment, Jerry moved to Colorado where he became a truck driver. It was said that he could drive any type of truck. It was here that he meet his wife, Doris Jean Miller. The two were married in Loveland, CO on November 17th, 1950. To this union two boys were born. In 1968, Jerry and his family came back to Missouri and resided in Cedar Hill. He went to work for Hallmark Concrete Company driving a truck, where he remained for 25 years until he retired. In 1994, he moved here to Willow Springs to be close to his family, so he could help take care of his mother. Jerry had many enjoyments in life, he especially enjoyed being outdoors where he could fish, swim, and hunt deer. He also was a avid and accomplished league bowler who bowled several perfect 300 games, and had achieved many trophies as a result. Since 2003, Jerry and his brother John were very dedicated and instrumental in serving the Senior citizens of Willow Springs through the "Meals on Wheels" program for the Willow Springs Senior Center. A fact both were very proud of, and were recognized by the city for their hard work and dedication. Jerry was described by his family as a very good husband and father, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Harvey and James Miller; his sisters Mary C. Butler and Mildred Catrell; sister-in-law Marggie Miller, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by his loving wife Doris J. Miller, his sons Ricky Miller (Opal) and John W. Miller (fiancée Vivian Stowers) all of Willow Springs. Jerry is further survived by his brother John E. Miller, Sr. of Willow Springs, Nephew Michael R. Butler (Alisa) of West Plains, Niece Sherry Hix of Pomona, and Nephew David Miller (Sam) of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO Further surviving are his grandchildren and great nephews and nieces John and Candy Miller of Willow Springs, Christopher Weller, Sr. of Branson, Bryon Butler of West Plains, Amber and Amy Butler of Duluth, MN; Ben Butler of West Plains, Brandy and Felicia Butler of Pomona,Michelle Schnelting of St. Louis, MO; Scott Schnelting of Bell, MO; Matt Schnelting of Bradenton, FL; Steven Schnelting of West Plains, Dawn Bilbrey of Pomona, and Great grandchildren Christopher Weller, Jr. of West Plains, Olivia Weller of Cabool, and Ayden Wayne Butler of Pomona.
