Mrs. Donnie F. Davis

Donnie Fae Davis, of Willow Springs, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017, while at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains due to natural causes. Born on October 20, 1929 to Noah Donald and May (Scrivener) Richards in Hopewell, MO; she was 87 years old. Donnie spent her early childhood years on a farm and attended her first three years of grade school at Star Ridge School near Rimby, MO. Donnie then attended fourth grade through high school at Lebanon, where her father's work took the family. During her adult life, Donnie began her work career in 1949 at the State Bank in Lebanon as a teller and head bookkeeper. She then went to work for the Greene County Bank of Strafford as a teller and assistant cashier, and later as a teller at the Citizens Bank of Ava. Lastly, she worked for Mercantile Bank in Willow Springs as an assistant cashier/teller Supervisor, from where she retired. Donnie became a Christian at the age of eleven during Vacation Bible School week at the First Baptist Church of Lebanon. She joined the Baptist Tabernacle Church and was baptized on December 4, 1949. In 1973 she became a member of the First Baptist Church of Willow Springs. She had many interests in life, and was well known as an accomplished seamstress. She also enjoyed needlework, cooking, lawn work, bowling and caring for her family. Donnie was described as a generous, caring person who loved her family, friends, community, her nation, but most of all, her Lord. Donnie was preceded in death by her parents, and in 1977 her husband of 24 1/2 years, Billy Don Davis, and one sister, Bonnie M. Poffenbarger of Weston, FL. She is survived by two daughters, Donita Davis and ReNee' Davis both of Willow Springs ;one sister, Anna J. Hough of Lebanon, MO; one brother, Joel A. Richards and wife, Brenda of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Shannon Huff and wife Bridget of Ava, MO and Farrah Dalton of Ava. She is further survived by six great grandchildren: ReAunna Snelson, Cody Huff, Jasmine Dalton, Deandra Huff, Alexis Dalton and Journey Dalton, and a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. They, like her many friends, will find comfort in the assurance that her deep and abiding Christian faith has been rewarded. Graveside services for Mrs. Davis will be held Saturday at l:00 pm , January 7, 2016 at Mount Rose Memorial Park in Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made be made to one of her favorite charities, the Christos House, 305 Washington Ave., West Plains, MO 65775, or left at the funeral home.
